You’re looking at a new Ducati CAMSHAFT LOCKING TOOL for the ST4 AND ST4S from model year 2001.
This tool can also be used on the 2002 748 fitted with ST4 heads known as the ‘Testabassa’, and the Monster S4.

On Ducati Desmoquattro engines there is always pressure on the cams and if the cam belts are removed without holding the cam wheels the correct valve timing will be lost. This tool has been designed to precisely fit between the 2 cam shafts and hold them in place allowing for easy replacement of the cam belts.
Installation tips:
First, lock the rear cylinder cams with this tool, then remove belt from the front cylinder followed by rear. Replace belt on rear cylinder followed by the front. Remove the cam lock tool and tension belts.
